How We Grade Devices

  • Device is first passed through our secure datawipe process to ensure all sensitive data is removed to digital forensic standards.
  • Device is then processed by our technicians undertaking a full diagnostic check using Blackbeck Analyst ™ software. This gives a detailed functionality report on your device and typically checks the function of:
    • Bluetooth
    • GPS
    • Wi-Fi
    • Device Backlight
    • Device Screen
    • Screen Pixels
    • Headset Connection
    • Device Charging
    • Device Battery
    • Device Proximity
    • Camera (Front and rear)
    • Device Vibration
    • Device Microphone
    • Device Speakers
    • Volume Control Keys
    • Android OS Information
    • RAM Information
    • Internal Memory
    • SD Card Capacity
    • Device Call Test
    • Device Condition Logging
  • Device is lastly given a full visual cosmetic check and thorough clean consisting of:
    • Close examination under high powered lighting strip.
    • Removal of all stickers.
    • Full device clean.
    • Secondary examination at approximate distance of 50-60cm ("arms-length")
  • Grade of device determined and assigned.

 

Grading Definitions:

Brand New Sealed:

A brand new sealed device containing full accessories as would be expected direct from the manufacturer.

Apple CPO:

An Apple 'Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) device is a device that has been refurbished by an Apple approved service centre to 'as new' condition. These devices have to pass Apple's proprietary device testing and checks to ensure it is deemed of Apple standard. These devices are checked for full functionality and where appropriate come with a new outer body and/or IMEI. Any replacement parts are genuine Apple components and the device comes direct from Apple in Apple original packaging.

Grade A+ - Pristine Condition

  • Perfect cosmetics
  • Front glass will have no scratches whatsoever
  • Immaculate rear casing
  • Bezels free from any signs of wear
  • Apple logo or any other branding will be blemish free and have no marks or scratches.
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified)
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked)
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped

Grade A - Exceptional Quality

  • Exceptional quality used handset with nearly new cosmetic appearance.
  • Front glass will have no scratches.
  • Device may show some evidence of ‘not new’, a single minor imperfection for example.
  • Rear case may have very superficial evidence of the device being ‘not new’ but only on close inspection.
  • Manufacturer logo or any other branding will be blemish free and have no marks or scratches.
  • Home button must have no marks or scratches.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front
  • Device will have no chips, cracks dents or broken casework
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified)
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked)
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped

Grade B - Very Good Condition

  • Very Good condition
  • Front glass may have some light scratches or one minor medium scratch
  • Fine, superficial damage is acceptable.
  • Rear case may have moderate signs of wear such as light pitting or evidence of a protective cover.
  • Apple logo may have a minor imperfection / superficial scratch
  • Home button may have light markings.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Device will have no chips, cracks dents or broken casework
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified)
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked)
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped

Grade C - Good Overall Condition

  • Good Overall condition
  • Front glass may have medium to heavy scratches.
  • Well used with moderate to heavy / deep scratches on front glass and rear case.
  • Grade C devices will show obvious signs of wear and tear but are still in a usable condition
  • Small nicks / dents around the casing are permitted.
  • Across batches some devices may show ‘pinking’ or slight variation in colour on outer edges of LCD’s. This is consistent with ageing product.
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified)
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI) unlocked
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped

Grade D - Faulty or For Parts Only

  • Contains devices where the cosmetic standards do not meet A-C criteria
  • May have cracked glass but LCD module is still intact
  • Casework may be bent or broken
  • Minor faults may be present, these include but are not limited to – wi-fi, bluetooth, camera, volume buttons, earpiece, vibrate, microphone, headphone socket network signal, passcode locks, not reading sim and proximity sensor
  • There may be pixel damage or minor white spots showing.
  • PIN, Touch ID or iCloud (FMI) unlocked
